How It Started
In 2017, Ryan Grassmann was a licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, working as a civilian contractor for the Department of Defense. His job took him around the world, building, installing, and repairing flight simulators for the U.S. military. But while he was planning his wedding, he faced a tough reality: despite his dedication, he was told he couldn’t even be guaranteed time off for his own wedding day. That was the tipping point. Ryan made sure he had the day off—by leaving his job.
Ryan didn’t waste any time. He teamed up with his future father-in-law, a real estate investor, and a local contractor to dive into the world of fix-and-flip projects and new constructions. From unemployed to self-employed, West Custom Construction was born. Ryan spent years working as an Interior Trim Carpenter, specializing in cabinetry, and collaborating with local contractors and homeowners. But as he completed more projects, he grew increasingly frustrated with the renovation industry.
Time after time, he heard horror stories of subcontractors who took money and ran, or who delivered such poor workmanship that the job had to be redone. Communication was terrible, standards were low, schedules were inconsistent, and reliability was almost nonexistent. Things only got worse in 2024 when Florida stopped requiring a license for cabinetry installations, leading to a flood of under qualified installers.
Ryan saw an opportunity to change the game. With his years of experience, he knew he could build a company that stood for integrity and service, making renovations seamless and satisfying for every customer. When the original contractor he was working with left the state, Ryan seized the moment to rebrand and expand. Crowned Cabinets was born.
Today, Ryan and his wife Nikki work side by side to create beautiful kitchens for families across Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsboro, and Hernando counties. Nikki, who left a successful career in the beauty and wellness industry, joined Ryan in building something unique. They focused on providing real value to their customers, including services that other companies charge extra for—like demolition, disposal, appliance installation, and cabinet pulls. But Nikki didn’t stop there. She partnered with cleaning companies and professional organizers to turn what could be a daunting kitchen renovation into an enjoyable and stress-free experience.
At Crowned Cabinets, we’re not just building kitchens—
we’re building trust, one project at a time.
